I just recently ordered flowers from the local price chopper for a memorial service held for a family member. The price seemed reasonable, perhaps even low, and it made sense as I was there on a quick grocery errand. At the service that weekend I was genuinely embarrassed by shoddy job that was my order. it seemed lopsided & thrown together in way that bordered on random. It made me think of a craft project from my granddaughter, you just say “thats nice” not to hurt feelings and move on. Also there were some genuinely beautiful pieces there not from price chopper. The one form my brother was gorgeous and lush with color and I can tell (I’m an artist) that selection was considered for placement, balance and seemed manicured and crafted. I could see the person that made this cares about what he/she is doing. It was loaded with flowers so I assumed he must have spent at least $50 to $75 or even more than I had, buying it at a local florist. I couldn’t help myself but ask how much it cost him and guess what… $15 more! Just $15!!! So I managed to save $15 and gave up every cent of quality. It was a poor job and I suppose you really do get what you pay for after all. The worst part is that I now feel ashamed that I took money and work away from a business (actual florist) where they care about what they do. I shouldn’t be surprised after all, price chopper is a grocery not a florist. I’ll never buy flowers at the grocery store again.
mortified
